Summarize PDF with AI

On-device AI summaries of any PDF

Everything runs locally in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.

About this tool

Drop a PDF and get a clear AI-generated summary in seconds. This tool reads the document's text and uses Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model, which runs locally in your browser, to condense it. Long documents are summarized in parts and then combined. Because everything happens on your device, your content never leaves your computer.

On-device AI features are designed so prompts and documents can stay on your hardware when the browser AI stack is available. Availability depends on your browser and device capabilities.

How to use it

  1. Open the tool in a supported desktop browser.
  2. Follow on-screen status if a local model needs to download.
  3. Provide your prompt or document input.
  4. Review the result and copy or download what you need.

Common use cases

  • Draft or brainstorm without sending chats to a cloud LLM.
  • Summarize PDFs you prefer to keep local.
  • Generate images with on-device pipelines when supported.
  • Experiment with private AI workflows for development.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The text is extracted in your browser and summarized by Chrome's on-device AI model, so nothing is sent anywhere.

Why does it say AI is unavailable?

The built-in Prompt API needs a recent desktop Chrome with the feature enabled and the model downloaded. Once available, the model downloads once and then works offline.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Only if the PDF contains real, selectable text. Scanned image-only PDFs have no text layer to summarize.

Does Summarize PDF with AI upload my files or text?

No. Processing is designed to run in your browser. Your inputs are not uploaded to DevToolDeck servers for conversion.

Do I need an account?

No. You can use the tool immediately without signing up.

Is the tool free?

Yes. DevToolDeck tools are free to use in the browser. The site may show ads to keep the service available.
